6 Worcester Business Journal | Book of Lists 2020 | wbjournal.com A D V E R T I S E M E N T S ince our establishment in 1895, Bay State Savings Bank has remained committed to being your community bank of choice. We offer retail and commercial services and always tailor those services to meet the needs of our customers. We have always made it our duty to reinvest in the communities that invest in us and adapt to what our neighbors call for now and in the future. This year, Bay State answered the call to support our city's businesses enduring financial hardship due to the impact of COVID 19. With the SBA Paycheck Protection Program, our Commercial Lending team processed more than 325 loans and provided over $28 Million in funds for business owners. We also kept our customers informed online via website, social media, and email updates about in-branch safety pro- tocol and ways to secure finances against fraud and identity theft, which has seen a national uptick. Since last year, Bay State also launched digital initiatives focused on making itself more uniquely accessible to custom- ers including a redesigned company website, the Digital Wallet which allows for customers to easily make mobile pay- ments, and a new company mascot, Benjie, the Bay State Beagle. We also expanded our array of media content to remain connected with customers amidst quarantine includ- ing a monthly financial literacy tutorial video series on Youtube, online homebuyer seminars, and storybook read- alongs with Benjie for children, delivered over Zoom. When it comes to our involvement with local organiza- tions, we put our heart into supporting our communities. Our staff volunteers time and professional expertise to serve on the boards of local organizations and nonprofits such as Mechanics Hall, the Worcester Historical Museum, Habitat for Humanity, Children's Friend, and Best Buddies. Last year, the Bank and its charitable foundation also awarded over $210,000 in scholarships, grants, donations, and sponsorships. The Bank has enjoyed its ongoing partici- pation with and support of local nonprofits such as the Mustard Seed, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester, LUK, Inc. and Simon Says Give Worcester, while also sup- porting our local sports teams such as the Worcester Bravehearts and the Worcester Railers. Bay State Savings Bank has four full-service branches in Worcester, with additional branches in Holden and Auburn, including an education-based branch at Auburn High School. We look forward to the future and continuing to be an inte- gral part of our communities. n Bay State Savings Bank: Community Bank of Choice Street Address: 28 Franklin Street, Worcester, MA 01608 Phone Number: 800-244-8161 508-890-9090 (EspaƱol) Website: www.baystatesavingsbank.com Product or Service Description: Banking/Finance Number of Employees: 74 Head of Company and Title: Peter B.
