They will officially become part of the Massachusetts Cannabis Union, Local 1445. Dozens of employees work in the facility, which supplies dispen - saries in Greater Boston. Efforts to unionize cannabis employees are slowly picking up steam in Massachusetts. In July, Mayflower Medicinals cultivation employees in Holliston success - fully voted to join the UFCW, one of the first cohorts of local canna- bis employees to do so. "I'm very happy about this union because it feels good to believe in this job as a long-term career, especially now that the industry has been classified as essential. I want to grow in my job while we grow in the field," said Cultivate employee Amy Hopkinson, in a statement. UFCW says it represents can - nabis industry employees across the industry. Cultivate's cultivation employees vote to unionize The Leicester marijuana retailer and grower Cultivate was the first to offer recreational marijuana sales in Massachusetts.
