"We expect construction on the new branch to resume soon and will close the existing location when it is completed," Orlando said. The bank notified custom- ers of the relocation earlier this month, she said, and the bank plans to retain all of its current branch employees following the move. Worcester Plaza, a 24-story glass office tower at 446 Main St, was sold for $16.5 million last October, when it was pur- chased by Synergy Investments, a Boston commercial real estate firm. "We are investing in our branch network and the new location will offer a welcoming environment with innovative features designed to improve the customer experience," Orlando said. Speaking at a Worcester Chamber of Commerce event in January, Ryan Chamberlain, Synergy's director of business development, said the firm plans to spend $12 million to renovate the iconic downtown tower. Al- though the firm has not formally announced it, the tentative plans for the former Santander space call for a restaurant. Santander will leave Worcester Plaza skyscraper Worcester Plaza
