Catering to that market, North Country Investments bought a 14,200-square-foot, 29-unit apartment building at 33 Stone St. in Augusta from Jedi LLC for $1.625 million. Nick Lucas of the Boulos Co. and Spenser Ouelette with the Bean Group brokered the deal, which closed June 18. Ouelette is the owner of North Country Investments. As an investor, he owns multiple apartment buildings around central Maine. He purchased the building as an investment and will continue to operate it as an apart- ment building. e property was on the market for only 17 days before Ouelette scooped it up. N O T E W O R T H Y C E N T R A L & W E S T E R N The Eaton Mountain Foundation, a nonprofit pending approval in Skowhegan, entered into a long- term lease with the owner of Eaton Mountain, David Beers, to operate and manage the mountain. Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn announced its 2020 corporate partners for a Hunger-Free Maine including: Hannaford Supermarkets as its transformational partner and Bangor Savings Bank, Emera Maine, Feeding America, Hannaford Charitable Foundation, Oakhurst Dairy, Sam's Club, Shaw's/ Albertson's Cos. Foundation, Target, TD Charitable Foundation, Trader Joe's and Walmart and Walmart Foundation as visionary partners. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded Kennebec Valley Community Action Program in Augusta a total of $5.9 million for its Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. Healthy Community Coalition, an affiliate of Franklin Community Health Network and a member of the MaineHealth family, was awarded a grant totaling $1 million over three years to implement a Greater Franklin County rural response to the current opioid crisis. Franklin Savings Bank in Farmington donated a total of $48,000 to nine lo- cal districts to help cover the costs of summer meal programs. Lodge gets warning over COVID violations Maine officials reinstated the busi- ness license of a Millinocket lodge and restaurant cited for violating COVID-19 health requirements but warned they may take action again in case of noncompliance. Officials said they are also still investigating the outbreak, which stemmed from an Aug. 7 wed- ding and reception held at the Big Moose Inn and Frederica's Restaurant, and led to 123 reported cases of the disease as of Aug. 28. e number included 54 cases at the York County Jail in Alfred and nine cases at Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison. Big Moose became the first busi- ness in the state to be cited for violating Maine's indoor gathering limit of 50 people. While no fines were issued, Dr. Nirav Shah, direc- tor of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, warned of financial penalties in case of further noncompliance. Susan Collins and Angus King announced that the University of Maine in Orono was awarded $3 million to support grad- uate research on the rapidly chang- ing Arctic through the National Science Foundation's Research Traineeship Program to train gradu- ate students in the interdisciplinary field of Arctic systems science. Sewall, a consulting firm in Old Town providing services to govern- ment, energy and utilities, and the forest industry, introduced new branding, including a new logo. The firm was formerly known as the James W. Sewall Co. Katahdin Bankshares Corp., parent company of Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton, declared a cash dividend of 11.85 cents per share for the third quarter of 2020. The dividend, which represented a 5.33% in- crease over last year's third quarter dividend, will be payable on Sept. 22 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 15.
