A division of: New Haven BIZ is a publication of New England Business Media, LLC. I t seems change has been the only constant in 2020. e same can be said for New Haven Biz. Your trusted source for business news and information has undergone a few changes in recent months that you will see reflected in this and future issues. First, the magazine is under new leadership. Tom Curtin is now the publisher and owner of the publica- tion, while Greg Bordonaro is the executive editor. Both have deep experience in the business-to- business publishing industry. Curtin is the former publisher of NJBIZ, a statewide business news publication in New Jersey, and Bordonaro has been the editor of the Hartford Business Journal since 2013. Meantime, Michelle Tuccitto Sullo is the publication's managing editor and she runs the day-to-day operations of the editorial department, which in addition to this print magazine produces a three-times-a-week email newsletter. As we head into the last few months of 2020 and a new (and hopefully better) year ahead, we want your feedback on how New Haven Biz can continue to be an indispensable resource for your business. is month's issue will already have a different look and feel than what you might be used to. We've added some new features and stepped up our coverage in the business-to-business space. Our cover story takes a look at how the COVID-19-related college campus closures have impacted the city of New Haven, Connecticut's top college town. We also highlight how the pandemic has impacted the region's commercial real estate market, and a couple of businesses – one that has thrived in the face of the pandemic and another that has fallen victim to it. Despite the economic challenges impacting the region, it hasn't stopped the Elm City's key innovation sector. In this issue we highlight three innovators and entrepreneurs who are changing their communities and the world with advances in genetic testing, space exploration and medical marijuana. Please let us know what you think of this issue and share your ideas for how we can deliver even more useful content. If there's anything we've learned from this year, it's that all organizations must adapt or die in the face of an ever-changing economy and world. We are prepared to do that and provide the information and news your business needs to do the same. – New Haven Biz Staff Change is the only constant T R E N D I N G 5 | Beyond the Headlines 6 | By the Numbers 6 | 5 to Follow 7 | Corner Office 7 | Business Briefs 8 | Small Biz Spotlight T H E L O O P 30 | What's the Deal? 32 | C-Suite 34 | Viewpoint Cover Photograph: Gary Lewis C O N T E N T S Greg Bordonaro Michelle Tuccitto Sullo F E A T U R E S 10 | Q&A: Mayor Elicker New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker weighs in on first months in office, vision for the future 12 | Career 180 Interested in a new career path?
