20 Worcester Business Journal | August 17, 2020 | wbjournal.com From your friends and colleagues at the Worcester Jobs Fund Advisory Committee, MassHire, and the reMAke 4.0 manufacturing consortium! Congratulations Congratulations Kelsey Kelsey Lamoure ! Lamoure ! Congratulations Congratulations Kelsey Kelsey Lamoure ! Lamoure ! Baldelli has what can be an unenviable task of asking people for money. Fortunately for her, she's doing it on behalf of WPI, which has been something of a fundraising machine in the past few years and a college whose STEM-focus seems to make it more and more relevant. At WPI, Baldelli has surpassed senior class gift campaign goals in all three years she's run the program and developed a five-year implementation plan for a culture of campus-wide philanthropy. Her focus isn't just on WPI. She helps out just up Salisbury Street, too, at Assumption University, her alma mater. She's an alumni ambassador and serves on the President's Council. From there, her involvement in a range of positions quickly starts to be too numerous to name. Among them: She's a board member at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, where she helped raise more than $150,000 at its first- ever fundraising gala; a volunteer WPI campus advocate; a member of the Women in Development of Central Massachusetts; and the Young Professional Women's Association of Worcester. That's just today. In the past few years, she's volunteered for UMass Medical School's Winter Ball fundraiser and Habitat for Humanity. - G.W. Who would play you in the movie about your life? Julianne Moore How do you like the pandemic's work-from-home life? While I sometimes enjoy being a hermit in this new normal, I miss the relationships I build in-person with alumni and parents. What is your next goal? Own a home. Growing roots in this community is important to me. Tracy Baldelli, 27 Associate director of development Worcester Polytechnic Institute Residence: Worcester Birthplace: Southborough College: Assumption University In the decade-plus Bartholomew has been at Bartholomew & Co., the financial and investment planning firm's client assets have ballooned by more than $2 billion and the employee count has more than doubled. Bartholomew plays a critical role: he's the senior vice president and chief investment officer, holding both of those roles since 2018 after a series of promotions. In his early years with the firm, Bartholomew did everything from building a proprietary accounting report engine for institutional clients to managing the firm's information technology systems. His foundation began at Bryant University, where he earned his undergraduate and MBA degrees, and he hasn't forgotten it. Bartholomew serves on Bryant's Advisory Council to the College of Arts and Sciences, working to promote the benefits of being a liberal arts major at what has traditionally been a business school. His charitable work includes the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, and he serves on Preservation Worcester's endangered structures committee. In that role, he helps the preservation group comb the city for every building more than 50 years old and identify those most in danger of the wrecking ball. - G.W. If you could spend 24 hours only in one city, where would you go? I would love to spend another day in London, where I had an archeological internship in college. What was your hardest career achievement? Growing into a manager and leader people can rely on. What will the statue they build of you say? Always do the right thing, for no other reason than it simply is the right thing to do. Alex Bartholomew, 34 Senior vice president & chief investment officer Bartholomew & Company, Inc., in Worcester Residence: Holden Birthplace: Worcester College: Bryant University Peacock impresses not only with her job acumen – under her leadership, FLEXcon had its most profitable fiscal year in two decades – but her collaborative attitude. In three years, she has re-evaluated the company's expenses and saved more than $20 million, all without layoffs. In her previous role at Brooks Life Science in Chelmsford, she helped grow revenue from $148 million in 2017 to $196 million in 2018. At FLEXcon, she's not only worked to make sure the operation is profitable, but to demystify the company's finances by providing financial transparency and education. She's focused on helping the company shift away from management by objectives to servant leadership, which means training FLEXcon's 750 employees in North America, and promoting a culture of respect and continuous improvement. Outside of her official duties, Peacock mentors women in business both inside and outside the firm, including at local colleges. She works to bolster FLEXcon's relationship with its communities, particularly by supporting FLEXcon's alliance with the Spencer-East Brookfield School District and donating face shields to hospitals and first responders. She volunteers at her daughters' school, Naquag Elementary School in Rutland. - M.B. What is the first thing you'll do after the pandemic? Take my daughters back to Disney World! If you gave a keynote graduation speech, what would your message be? Courage, confidence and empathy are critical to success. Whose career do you want to emulate? Kiichiro Toyoda, the founder of Toyota. I'm amazed how Toyota balances respect for people and continuous improvement, with world- class lead time, quality, financials and environmental performance.
