What four people would you like to travel with for a year? Mark Cuban, Abraham Lincoln, Mikaela Shiffrin (I'd love to ski with her!) and Amelia Earhart How do you like the pandemic-induced, work-from-home life? While I cherish spending extra time with my husband and baby, I miss interacting with clients and colleagues. At the office, we put our heads and hearts together for clients. What is your immediate next goal in life? To continue my family focus: my own and those of my clients. As a loving wife and mother, I extend myself naturally to clients' parents and children. Marie Paturzo, CFP, 38 Financial advisor Merrill Lynch, in Worcester Residence: Whitinsville Birthplace: Hopedale College: Framingham State University In his home country of the Dominican Republic, Luna worked at an Army hospital and in pharmaceutical sales while completing his business degree at night. When he, his wife and young daughter arrived in the U.S. in 2010, he initially struggled to land job interviews and find work. In a short time, he started as a personal banker at Sovereign Bank, and he hasn't looked back. He quickly found roles with increasing responsibilities in services, collections and branch management. Today, Luna is an assistant vice president and an area manager for Workers Credit Union, which he joined in 2019. It has been at Workers Credit Union where Luna has helped create and launch a new guide for the credit union's mission called the Workers Way, and early this year he opened the firm's first Worcester branch. The branch is one of two, along with another in Hudson, that has what's called a PlanIt arrangement, which gives customers one-on-one financial planning. Giving financial guidance isn't something limited to his working hours. He's taught educational seminars on elder financial abuse at Whitney Place in Westborough, an assisted living center, and worked with Save for America, a group helping kids save money. - G.W. What aspect of pre-pandemic life did you take for granted? In-person contact with loved ones. A big part of being human is to live in a community, and your family becomes that first step to develop yourself as a social being. Who is most responsible for your success? My mother. She is the strongest person I know; she taught me and my siblings to be strong and self-dependent. What will the statue they eventually build of you say? He wanted to help create a better world for all.
