The numbers of families served during the COVID-19 pandemic have tripled. The need for assistance with food, utilities, and rental assistance has greatly increased as many people are no longer able to work and struggling to make ends meet. In our pantry, we are now serving 40-60 families a day, some days reaching 87 families. Assistance is needed with diapers and personal care items as we are unable to meet the increase in demand. Catholic Charities assesses the needs of the community and provides a multitude of services to address those most in need. Our faith drives us to do this work, helping without concern of one's race, culture or religious beliefs. Our work in the community finds us opening a six-month recovery program for women in Leominster, serving an underserved population in an underserved community. We are also expanding and relocating our homeless/transitional housing program to a larger and more updated location here in Worcester. The staff and volunteers at Catholic Charities consider their work as a vocation and go far beyond what could be expected of them. – Henry Camosse, Jr., Board President
