Stabilizing the organization in this "new normal" in the aftermath of the pandemic. • Staff Development: With new opportunities and restructured goals, RCAP Solutions is seeking energetic and entrepreneurial professionals to fulfill our mission and create dynamic communities. • Transitioning Workforce: As we move from working remotely and bring the team back into the building, we focus on new policies around workplace safety to secure the health and safety of our staff and clients as we reopen to the public. Future Goals: Recover and rebuild our operational component in a post-COVID-19 world. • Diversified Revenue Base and Increased Independence from State and Federal Funds: RCAP Solutions seeks to increase its capacity and financial stability by decreasing its reliance on federal funding. The organization will initiate a range of income-producing programmatic activities and business ventures to increase the level of unrestricted revenue to support innovation and leverage expanded services to low-income rural communities. • Continued Development in the Northeast Rural Corridor and the Caribbean: The organization plans to expand its vital services across our footprint. The organization will increase opportunities to provide our expertise across state and program boundaries in response to the needs identified by communities. Recent natural disaster relief efforts are a prime example of how the organization's water and housing expertise can be deployed throughout the region. Our services are being promoted with the goal of replicating our integrated service model in Massachusetts, to all states. As a result, RCAP Solutions is positioning the organization as a responsive community development provider and resource to all communities, especially those lacking the resources or capital to improve their quality of life. RCAP Solutions is also the Northeast affiliate of the six-member national RCAP Network, which focuses on advocating for rural communities and providing guidance with water-related and infrastructure issues. Advisory Councils – RCAP Solutions is seeking volunteers to advise, advocate, and create a stronger community in several key areas: • Northeastern U.S. and Caribbean; Individuals who have an understanding of rural community issues, such as economic development, healthcare, tourism, environment, transportation, and education. • Central Massachusetts; Individuals who understand the needs of low-income families and the support services needed to succeed. • Subsidiary Boards; We are also seeking volunteers for our subsidiary boards, which provide guidance to our ten rental properties located throughout central MA. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES RESPONDING TO THE CRISIS RCAP Solutions and the resources we provide have become more vitally relevant than ever during this pandemic as a conduit of information, referrals, and resources for emergency services. Our Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC) team has seen a massive increase of traffic through online applications and inquiries and has received an additional $328,000 in funds to provide Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) funding, a program funded by MA Department of Housing and Community Development that can provide eligible families with financial assistance to help prevent homelessness. Our First Time Homebuyer workshops and counseling are continuing in a virtual setting, and our Home Modification Loan Program continues to see a steady stream of applications, with our client meetings and closings taking place via Zoom. Our Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) team, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), helped to distribute nearly 30,000 cloth masks to essential Public Water System and Wastewater operators in need. A second round of cloth mask distribution is being offered to the water and wastewater sectors to continue supporting safe operations now and in the future. In partnership with the Health Foundation of Central Mass and Wachusett Medical Reserve Corps, we have distributed over 15,000 door hangers with COVID-19 information as a public health service through schools, elderly and public housing, and family support services. • Our primary focus has shifted to keeping our staff whole and providing resources for immediate needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to build the RCAP Solutions Employee Emergency Fund, used to support our staff in the event that unexpected circumstances might arise in their personal lives outside of the workplace. This includes childcare, transportation, housing, healthcare, and other unforeseen circumstances. • As the northeast partner to the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP, Inc.); our goal is to provide clean water and infrastructure programs throughout the northeast and Caribbean. The organization also serves as the Worcester County Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC), dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing programs to residents throughout Central Massachusetts.
