Teachers and staff have provided children on-line lessons and family activities since the Center's closure. Families receive frequent calls from Rainbow's staff to retain communication. In response to COVID-19, Rainbow's primary concern is for the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve. The Center is committed to follow all recommendations outlined by the CDC, State Government and the Department of Early Education and Care. New policies and procedures will include: Reduced enrollment of children in Family Child Care homes, Preschool classes and Afterschool sessions in order to provide social distancing measures. This policy will have a negative impact on children, families and Rainbow's operations budget. Transporting children to and from Rainbow to our programs will be significantly impacted due to the reduced number of children allowed on each school bus. Rainbow's daily transportation expenses are expected to at least double. There is need for vital financial support to sustain children's transportation to and from Rainbow. Large group programs, events, performances, and family gatherings will be rescheduled or cancelled. There is a need for clear guidance when these restrictions will be lifted. Extensive drop off and pick up procedures when children enter the building will be implemented, such as screening children upon arrival. The high cost of personal protective equipment and intense cleaning from commercial cleaning companies will negatively impact Rainbow's operations budget. I invest my time to serve on Rainbow's Board of Directors because Rainbow changes lives! Parents bring their children to a safe and fun environment while they work or attend school.
