Build or acquire a property to establish the JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN CENTER in Worcester. 3.Expand eye camps, offering free eye care services and surgeries to people who are underprivileged and have visual impairments locally and in Third World countries around the globe. 4.Offer free food services to local homeless and hungry people in Worcester and in other communities. Partner with and contribute to local organizations attempting to eradicate hunger. 5.Eradicate homelessness in the local community by partnering with the City of Worcester to provide education and foster independence. 6.Empower more women and girls by offering free self-defense classes at the JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN CENTER and at local schools and organizations. 7.Support and empower disadvantaged children by inspiring them to realize their potential to do good in the community and make a difference; award scholarships; provide schools with supplies and the tools they need to better serve students; encourage good citizenship and entrepreneurship; and help children fulfill their inner passion. 8. Provide support and humanitarian services to victims of natural disasters in an effort to restore balance in the world. Mitra, President and Founder Mrs. Supriya (Sheema) Mitra, Treasurer and Founder MISSION STATEMENT SERVICE AREA: We serve individuals who are disadvantaged, primarily in the City of Worcester, at community churches, public schools and homeless shelters. During this pandemic, we donated $30,000 to the City of Worcester to create a homeless shelter in an effort to protect this population from spreading the virus. JoyGuru Humanitarian Services focuses on: Serving and treating people with visual impairments who cannot afford care; Helping combat poverty by providing food, clothing, medicine and education; Empowering girls and women through self-defense programs and education; Discovering the inner potential of underprivileged children in the community by opening a "School of Good Citizenship;"Teaching classes on managing personal finances and public speaking for underprivileged children in the community. Ultimately our mission includes establishing the "JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN CENTER" in Worcester, MA. This facility will include an eye clinic, food distribution center for the homeless and those less fortunate, and classroom facilities where self-defense classes and other educational services will be provided. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES We accept donations year-round from Individuals and businesses by credit card or check through our website, www.JoyGuru.org. Donors can donate by PayPal or set up monthly payments. We ask donors to consider naming JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES in their legacy and estate planning. A bequest form is available at our website. We are a non-profit charitable 501 (c) (3) organization and donations are deductible if qualified as per the IRS tax code and laws. Dr. Satya Mitra grew up under extremely challenging conditions. His mother passed away when he was three years old and later his father became blind. At times he was homeless. However, many people helped him through these difficulties and encouraged him to pursue an education. Although he was very poor, he completed his PhD and was able to come to the United States. Through the generous support he received, Mitra learned the importance of "paying it forward." He vowed that if God graced him with opportunity he would provide humanitarian services to all who needed them. In 2016, to fulfill the passion to help others in need, MItra and his wife Sheema founded JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES in Worcester. He, his wife and board members now serve as a source of hope and help to many needy people. They are fulfilling the mission and vision of JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES, which is to bring balance to the world. Mitra said, "The essence of true success in life is in giving back to the community and touching another life." He finds that opportunity in the foundation of JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES.
