Our companies, including United Illuminating, South- ern Connecticut Gas, and Connecticut Natural Gas, have a responsibility to provide the electricity and natural gas that keep all of us safe, comfortable and connected at home. We have committed to supplying these essential services even to customers who currently cannot pay for them during the pandemic. We are working with regulators and other com- munity partners to identify ways we can help families and businesses regain their footing as we emerge from this crisis. We have a responsibility to support first responders, medi- cal personnel, humanitarian organizations and others at the front lines of the battle against the coronavirus. To date, our companies and the Avangrid Foundation have committed $2.5 million toward coronavirus response and recovery at the national and local level. We've sought out other opportunities to support them, as well. In March, we scoured our invento- ries for protective masks we could donate to medical person- nel, providing 6,900 in Connecticut alone. In April, United Illuminating line workers organized a rolling tribute to thank New Haven medical personnel. We have a responsibility not only to continue our impor- tant work but also to press forward with our ambitious ef- forts to build a smarter, cleaner energy infrastructure for our region and nation — generating economic activity that will help carry us through this crisis and lead us into recovery. With many businesses now shuttered, we continue to build out, maintain and improve our systems, supporting thou- sands of Connecticut jobs during these lean times. AVANGRID is a relatively new company, and our brand is still new even to many of our customers. But, although our organization spans 24 states and includes one of the nation's largest wind generation fleets, we remain a Connecticut com- pany, with headquarters in Orange and deep local roots. UI, SCG and CNG are household names in the communities they serve and have a combined 466-year history of keeping Con- necticut homes warm and streets lit. Together, we have endured the Great Depression, the Great Recession and two world wars, and emerged from them stronger. We will get through this, too. As we rally together during these extraordinary times, we hope that AVANGRID and its companies will stand out as pillars of stability in the communities we serve, providing es- sential services, opportunity and leadership. Our communi- ties and customers are our lifeblood, and we are humbled by our responsibility to them. Sincerely, James P. Torgerson Chief Executive Officer AVANGRID, Inc. Robert D.
