Toscano has more than 28 years of experience, primarily focused on serving educational institutions of all types and providing specific expertise on endowment-related matters. Meghan Smith has been promoted to partner at Vernon law firm Kahan Kerensky Capossela LLP, where she will focus on business law, including commercial and residential real estate transactions. Smith joined the firm in 2015. CREW CT, a Farmington-based organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the achievements of women in commercial real estate, has elected its 2020 board of directors. Its board now consists of President Melissa Ferrucci, a partner at CohnReznick LLP; past President Lisa Lugauskas, an attorney at Fidelity National Title Group; President-elect/ CREW Network Delegate Kathleen Mylod, a partner at Shipman & Goodwin; Secretary Andrea L. Gomes, an attorney at Shipman & Goodwin; and Treasurer Edward Engberg, a partner at Whittlesey. Igor Bochenkov was named a partner at Glastonbury accounting firm Nicola Yester & Co. P.C. Borchenkov will continue focusing on tax services for privately held businesses. Bochenkof joined Nicola Yester in 2019, and previously was a director in the tax department of a top 15 U.S. public accounting firm and worked as a tax manager for a specialty finance company. Sami Asaad has joined the Hartford office of employment law firm FordHarrison LLP as partner and chair of the firm's home healthcare practice group. Asaad previously worked for McCarter & English. Ross Spiegel was elected chair of the Connecticut Green Building Council board of directors for 2020. Spiegel is a specifications coordinator for Glastonbury architectural firm SLAM. Gina Conflitti has been named chief medical officer at Cigna, where she will handle the Bloomfield-based health insurer's rapidly expanding national Medicare Advantage business. Conflitti is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a fellow in the American College of Physicians and is licensed in Arizona. Brenda Watson was appointed to the board of the Connecticut Green Bank, a quasi-public nonprofit focused on environmental issues. Watson is executive director of Operation Fuel Inc., a Connecticut nonprofit that provides cash assistance for low- income household heating expenses. Andrew J. Baldassarre was hired as principal and chief market strategist at Glastonbury wealth management firm Rossmore Private Capital LLC. Baldassarre previously served clients as a senior portfolio manager and investment strategist at investment firms in Hartford and Boston. Laila Partridge was named managing director of Stanley Black & Decker's STANLEY+Techstars Accelerator, a Hartford-based startup accelerator program. Partridge previously worked as CEO of WegoWise Inc., a company that tracks energy and water use. Dale Stewart and George Diakolambrianos have joined NTB Bank, a New York-based community bank that operates in six states, including Connecticut, as senior commercial relationship manager and commercial banking specialist, respectively. Stewart most recently served as commercial relationship manager for TD Bank. Diakolambrianos previously served as monetary loan servicing specialist for United Bank. Diane Kozel has joined Plainville construction company NDC Commercial Construction, and will lead business development. Kozel previously led business development at FIP Construction in Farmington. Megan Trask was promoted to managing advisor and director of the investment committee at Connecticut Wealth Management LLC, a registered investment advisor. Trask will be responsible for the development and implementation of the organization's target investment portfolios. Trask joined Connecticut Wealth in 2017, and has assisted clients in determining financial goals and developing plans to help reach them. State Rep. Gregory Haddad (D-Mansfield) is now coordinator of operations and community relations at the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education, where he will be responsible for advancing education and strengthening the region's economic, cultural and social life. Haddad is also a member of the New England Board of Higher Education. Dr. Khalid M. Abbed was hired as co-physician in chief at Hartford HealthCare's Ayer Neuroscience Institute, where he will oversee the Institute's expansion into Fairfield County and throughout Connecticut. Abbed previously served as chief of spine surgery and clinical vice chair of neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine. Ron Alexander has been appointed president and head of innovation at Covr Financial Technologies, a Hartford- based digital life insurance software developer, where he will lead product development, technology development and other efforts.
