CONNECTICUT HEALTH CARE: LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS
To the Connecticut Business Community,
COVID-19 has upended all of our lives. The disease has
altered our daily routines, physically separated us from our
families and friends, and created a sense of unease in all of us.
As we all struggle with these dramatic changes in our lives,
we are also witness to the kindness, courage, and compassion
exhibited by our family, friends, and neighbors who work in
our state's hospitals.
Every day, all across the state, the dedicated people who
work at our hospitals and health systems are putting in
incredibly long hours, while putting themselves at risk, to
ensure that every patient impacted by COVID-19 is provided
the best care possible.
It is, of course, what hospitals do. We are there when our
communities need us. It is why we prepare rigorously for
emergencies. So when the time comes, as it has now, we are
ready. Today, we have put our plans in place, we are adapting
as circumstances change and we are working with each other
to fight today's challenge: COVID-19.
As our communities rely on us, so we rely on our communi-
ties. We are incredibly thankful for the outpouring of support
from Connecticut's business community. Your partnership
in identifying donations and available supplies has been ex-
traordinary. Even more, your commitment to rethinking your
core businesses to assist in manufacturing much needed
medical supplies is appreciated.
We also applaud the leadership of Governor Ned Lamont
and the hard work of so many state agencies that are work-
ing together and with hospitals to ensure that our response
is up to the challenge.
We are grateful to everyone for taking the Governor's "Stay
Safe, Stay Home" decree seriously and encourage everyone
to continue to do your part and practice social distancing so
we can stem the tide of the virus. There will come a day when
our lives will feel more like they did just a few weeks back,
but we are not at that day yet, and our collective effort is still
needed. Thank goodness for partners like you.
Be safe, be well,
