www.HartfordBusiness.com • April 27, 2020 • Hartford Business Journal 5 CONNECTICUT HEALTH CARE: LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS Dear Hartford Business Journal readers and members of the health care community: At Access Health CT, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all those who are helping us through this incredible moment in history. Despite the hardship placed on frontline workers, the unemployed and underemployed, parents caught between conflicting priorities of work and homeschooling, and those that are sick and grieving from being directly impacted by the pandemic, we have seen the health care system, the public and business communities come together like never before. We thank all those "essential" professionals who put it all on the line during this time. As much as we, at Access Health CT can and will do to support our community through this extraor- dinary time, it pales in comparison to the passion and bravery of our frontline workers. We thank you, and recognize that we each have a role to play. We can all do something to help. Together, with the help of Governor Ned Lamont, Insur- ance Commissioner Andrew Maiz, Department of Social Services Commissioner Dr. Deidre Gifford, and our insur- ance Carriers, ConnectiCare and Anthem, we have increased access to quality, affordable health care by creating a New, Special Enrollment period for Connecticut's uninsured. During this time, we have helped 32,402 Connecticut resi- dents enroll in a health insurance plan — including Quali- fied Health Plans and Medicaid/CHIP. And we remain a vital resource for the many who have lost their health insurance due to the rapid increase in unemployment. We are proud of the progress we have made, and we will rise to the challenges still ahead of us. Thank you to our partners who have come together to help us make a positive difference. Yet there is much more to be done. We ask that you help us spread the message in your communities that coverage is possible. Access Health CT is here to help Connecticut residents in their time of need. We are a place where individuals, families and small businesses can shop, compare and enroll in quality health insurance plans; and the only place where you can qualify for financial help to pay for that coverage.
