CONNECTICUT HEALTH CARE: LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS
To Our Community:
These are difficult and unsettling times. Infection rates are
soaring around the country and, in Connecticut, the spread
of COVID-19 is bringing dramatic changes to our normal rou-
tines. However, and more importantly, this time offers us an
opportunity to see our actions with a fresh eye; to shift our
focus to family and friends, and to the unselfish and brave
acts of the people who care for and help support others.
While guidelines encourage "social distancing," we should
not equate this with losing touch with others. On the con-
trary, it is more importantly a time to socially and emotional-
ly (re)connect with loved ones, family and friends, neighbors,
and, others we meet along the way.
Many individuals and groups have reached out to us and
generously provided meals, masks, gloves, care packages,
drive-by events, notes of appreciation and other gracious gifts.
These same actions are taking place across our community,
state and country. We are so grateful for this support and
encouragement. The community connection born of these acts
can be felt by all of us and will continue as a residual benefit for
years to come. The true benefit is the connection, the out-
stretched hand, the words of support and the smile these acts
of kindness bring to our doctors, clinicians and caregivers.
The spread of COVID-19 is a new reality we all must face. As a
team, our healthcare workers have chosen to put themselves on
the front line for the benefit of patients, their families, and our
communities. Our team is working 24/7 to share their expertise,
instructive voices, caring hands and empathic hearts. We are
inspired to receive and provide compassion, as we know that it
continues to strengthen the bonds that will serve us well now
and in the difficult times ahead.
Please keep up the good work by washing your hands often,
stay home if you are sick and remember to cover your cough.
We are here for you and your families and are humbled by
how you continue to be there for us. Please stay safe.
