Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH) has had the privilege of providing orthopedic care for central Connecticut and beyond for over 50 years. Clearly, this is the most challenging crisis — combining a global health is- sue with a significant financial burden and a workplace safety concern — that our group has ever had to face. Our #1 priority remains the health and safety of our patients, employees, physicians, and our beloved families. For our valued patients, we are here for them during this time of need. Our offices remain open to treat acute issues, including fractures, unmanageable pain, and any orthopedic conditions that would worsen without treatment. Our X-ray department, cast room, MRI, and physical therapy centers are fully operational. For those patients with injuries that can't wait, we continue to op- erate our walk-in urgent care centers on weekends in Glaston- bury and Farmington. For those patients with nonemergent issues, we now offer Telemedicine visits where patients can discuss their conditions and treatment options with members of our orthopedic team. We are keeping all information about our practice current on our website at www.oahct.com. Please use this as a key resource during this time. We have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients and staff in our facilities. These measures include pre-screening patients and taking temperature upon ar- rival, ensuring all medical and direct patient care staff wear masks, and promoting social distancing guidelines. We also have made every effort to take care of our staff and business by taking advantage of the Payroll Protection Plan, the Con- necticut Shared Work Program, and have used other measures to allow OAH to remain open while keeping our staff safe and employed. We are very proud of this accomplishment. We are particularly proud of our physicians, advanced practitioners, managers, and staff who have risen to this occasion. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our doctors continue to work at the front line in the Emer- gency Department and Trauma Room performing emergent orthopedic surgery. They are putting their own lives at risk in treating those that are injured. In working with the physi- cians and leadership at the Bone and Joint Institute, OAH was the first in the area to cancel all inpatient and outpatient elective surgeries in a measure to help preserve resources, medical supplies, and more importantly, to save lives. We did this simultaneously with our flagship Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center in Rocky Hill. I am indebted to the strong leadership of our Executive Committee, led by Dr. Gordon Zimmermann, Dr. Kevin Burton, Dr. Pietro Memmo, Dr. R.J. Sullivan, and Mr. David Mudano. A special thanks to Dr. John Grady-Benson as our COVID-19 safety and CDC communication conduit in keeping our team safe. Orthopedic Associates of Hartford has been truly blessed to have served our community for the past 50 years. We have been here for our patients and the community in the past, and we will continue to be here during this time of need. To- gether, we will get through this crisis. This, too, shall pass. Stay safe and wash your hands! Timothy Taylor Chief Executive Officer A S S O C I A T E S of HARTFO RD O RTHO PED I C 1970
