During this coronavirus pandemic, when every individual and every organization is challenged to stay safe, the health- care industry is on the front line. The dedicated physicians, nurses and caregivers across the nation have shown the best of their noble profession. Never has our selfless commitment to patients and to one another been on higher display than it is today. We care, comfort, and support patients since families cannot be with them, while also supporting one another, united in one cause, to save lives. The healthcare community has risen to the challenge and we are grateful to not be doing this alone. Our community members have responded in remarkable ways to help sup- port us in our fight. This experience has brought out the best in all of us: great resilience, determination, grit, and hope. All our lives have been altered in unimaginable ways. For citizens young and old, home quarantine has altered the way we live. Once-vibrant communities have now fallen silent as daily routines have come to a halt. As healthcare workers and citizens, we understand the sacrifices everyone is making, and we thank you for helping fight the spread of the virus. You've done this in ways big and small. We are thankful for the generosity of the business community and everyday citizens who have donated supplies like masks, gowns, gloves, and face shields to help protect our staff. We appreciate how you've helped feed us as we work long hours. And we are amazed by ordinary citizens who volunteered to sew masks, make supplies on 3D printers, and organize parades to lift our spirits. Even young children have stepped up with draw- ings that brighten our day. We on the front lines are witnesses to the compassionate actions of our community. We are grateful for the support. You've inspired us. You have lifted our spirits so we can con- tinue to fight. The Waterbury HEALTH mission is to advance health, inspire hope and honor those who serve others. We want to take this opportunity to honor the community members who help others and to send our sincere thanks for all you are do- ing to support us. On behalf of all my Waterbury Hospital and our Waterbury HEALTH colleagues, I extend our heartfelt thanks to all physi- cians, nurses and caregivers and their best partners in this fight, the communities that support them. We're stronger together. Lester P.
