Leading in a time of crisis
T
he human and economic suffering
brought on by the coronavirus pan-
demic has been startling.
Connecticut alone has seen more
than 23,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and
nearly 2,000 deaths associated with the disease.
The death toll would be much greater if it
weren't for the brave men and women work-
ing on the frontlines of our healthcare system,
who are providing care and comfort to those
inflicted with coronavirus.
And they are providing that care at great
risk to themselves and their families.
Their selfless and round-the-clock service
gives the business community reassurance
that things will one day get back to normal.
The private sector has stepped up in various
ways to help as well. Whether it's restaurants
providing free food or manufacturers produc-
ing personal protection equipment, Connecti-
cut businesses have tried to feed, arm and pro-
vide other services that aid or protect nurses,
doctors and other workers on the ground floor
of our state's hospitals.
In recognition of all their work, the Hartford
Business Journal and New Haven Biz invited
the state's healthcare leaders to pen letters to
the business community, highlighting their
commitment to partner and work together to
solve this highly critical situation and return
the state to maximum health in the near future.
We've compiled those letters in this spe-
cial digital publication called, "Connecticut
Healthcare: Leadership in a Time of Crisis."
These healthcare heroes are committed to
rebuilding Connecticuts' economy by work-
ing to get people back to work in the safest
and most effective way possible, which will
pave the way for an economic recovery in the
Nutmeg State.
