C O M everyone is focused on the same goals, but accomplishes them in different ways," Richards notes, "Spring is the time to smooth out those edges in production and really invest in a goal. As colleagues, we need to understand the impact of investment. Investing in a good plan has beneficial effects downstream." Breakfast, Lunch, Bowl MEREDA's dedication to creating an informed real estate and development community doesn't stop a er the Spring Conference lights fade to black. The monthly Morning Menu Breakfast Series travels up and down the state, providing professionals with a morning dose of industry insight during the most important meal of the day. With Menu choices ranging from solar power to opportunity zones to retail and hotel development, the Breakfast Series exemplifies MEREDA's commitment to year-long engagement and education of its members, in all regions of the state. DevelopME — the most recent addition to MEREDA's educational efforts — seeks to engage younger members of a simi- lar mindset and at similar places on their career paths. Still in its relative infancy, DevelopME formed in 2017 a er MEREDA's Board blessed the concept. More democratic and conversational in its overall approach, DevelopME produces a Lunch and Learn series presenting of-the-moment topics chosen by popular vote. MEREDA's dedication to the creation and support of an educated workforce extends beyond the professional sphere. Since its incep- tion in 2012, MEREDA's "Strikes for Scholars" Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser has raised $107,000 for 78 Maine students pursuing studies in building trades, architecture, construction, engineering, or business programs. In a volunteer-based association such as MEREDA, no member is insignificant, no role is too small. From Conferences, to Breakfasts, to Bowl-a-Thons, the success of each and every event hinges on the dedica- tion of volunteer committees. "It's a major team effort of...great chemistry and aligned motives," observes Bruce Jones who served as co-chair of MEREDA's conference committee. Jones' counterpart, Brian Curley, concurs. "It takes a lot of effort to get a conference off the ground," Curley admits, "but MEREDA volunteers are top-shelf." " An incredibly dedicated and thoughtful committee creates conferences that keep people coming back year after year. e depth and breadth of learning is significant." — Larry Wold TD Bank Former President of MEREDA
