Steve Levesque, executive director of Midcoast Regional Redevelopment
Authority, has been an advocate for redevelopment of Brunswick Landing,
a former Navy air base.
Steve Levesque
Executive director / Midcoast Regional Redevelopment
Authority
What he is doing today: I am the executive director of the Midcoast
Regional Redevelopment Authority. We have 12 full-time employees.
I plan to continue to lead the organization for the next several years,
continuing to redevelop the former Navy base into a strong economic
asset and job creator for Maine.
Key lessons learned as a manager:
• Learn from others who have been there before.
• Hire great people and treat them well.
• Build broad consensus and take decisive actions.
Advice to Maine's next generation of business leaders: Don't
be afraid to reach out to others to assist with broad initiatives. I found
that strong collaborative efforts result in much more successful and
gratifying projects.
What's next: Some of the new initiatives/activities MRRA will be
engaged in include:
• Developing a state-of-art aviation maintenance training acad-
emy to meet the needs of Maine's growing aerospace industry;
• Establishing a secured/island smart electric microgrid
at Brunswick Landing with 100% on-campus renewable
generation;
• Establishing an Aerospace Center of Excellence to accommo-
date early stage and growing UAS and NewSpace companies
and becoming an integral element of the Maine SpacePort
initiative;
• Becoming a 5G Center of Excellence for Maine.
