We provide care at all levels: acute, preventative, rehabilitative, skilled nursing, long term, home and hospice. We employ approximately 12,000 team members. Key lessons learned as a manager: A common vision is absolutely essential, communicating that goal in words that demonstrate what it means to individuals on the team must be repetitive and consistent. Transparency around goals and performance to those goals is critical. In complex organizations like healthcare services, every success is the result of great teamwork. Advice to Maine's next generation of business leaders: Be humble; you can always learn from others. And be a lifelong learner! What's next: She announced in November 2019 that she will step down to become executive vice president and chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association, which represents 5,000 hospitals and is based in Chicago.
