Solutions to occupy CityPlace I office Hartford IT services firm GalaxE. Solutions Inc. says it will move its innovation center from Upward Hartford's coworking space at the Stilts Building to a larger, temporary office at the CityPlace I skyscraper. GalaxE said it will relocate its roughly 40 employees to a 24,000-square-foot office at CityPlace I, 185 Asylum St. The New Jersey- based firm, which aims to hire some 200 workers by summer, will occupy the 15th floor space until it acquires a building downtown, officials say. Tunxis buys building for new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center Tunxis Community College bought a $1.3-million building adjacent to its Farmington campus that will serve as its new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center. The state bought the 44,000-square- foot former manufacturing building, which sits on six acres at 21 Spring Lane in 2013, according to Tunxis. The school initially plans to renovate 10,000 square feet of it to house its advanced manufacturing technology programs. Tunxis is in the process of selecting an architect for the renovation project. Administrators expect renovations will begin this summer, and the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center will open in time for the spring 2021 semester. The machine and electro-mechanical maintenance technology programs Tunxis introduced in 2018 will continue to operate in their existing space until the new center is completed. Landlord Griffin Industrial to shed 2 Greater Hartford office buildings Major Connecticut commercial landlord Griffin Industrial Realty Inc. said it plans to convert to a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and shed two of its suburban office buildings in Windsor and Bloomfield as part of a larger strategy to focus on managing and leasing industrial/warehouse space. The New York-based landlord- developer said it plans to convert to a REIT for federal tax purposes and sell its two, three-story office buildings at the 600-acre Griffin Center office park. The buildings at 5 and 7 Waterside Crossing total about 161,000 square feet. After selling those Class A office buildings, each spanning about 80,500 square feet, Griffin said its remaining office portfolio would include 10, single-story properties in Greater Hartford totaling 272,000 square feet. Griffin may seek to sell those properties over time, it said. Bradley airport to add Starbucks, Hartford Prints! stores, other vendors Starbucks and Hartford gift shop Hartford Prints! are among eight new food and retail vendors expanding or adding locations at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks. The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) announced the launch of a new concession program that will also add new kiosk units for La Familia Tacos + Tequila restaurant, Jamba Juice, Auntie Anne's and Carvel. Existing Dunkin', Brooks Brothers and CNBC stores will also be expanded as part of the program. Gineva Jewelry will also be moved to a newly renovated kiosk. Most of the new additions, financed by the new and existing vendors, will be located near gates 20 thru 30. The hope is that the additions will improve the airport's concession experience, said CAA Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon. Windsor Locks to get downtown train station The Connecticut Department of Transportation will build a new rail station in Windsor Locks after receiving a $17.4 million federal grant, officials said. The new station will be located in Windsor Locks' downtown area, about a mile north of a platform that currently serves as a stop on CTrail's Hartford Line. It will sit next door to the $64-million, 160-unit Montgomery Mill apartment redevelopment that debuted in August.
