Describe your role and its impact: I sell Wallingford to companies considering a business startup or relocation, while working with existing companies to retain them. e breadth of engagement encompasses large corporations doing business globally to local entrepreneurs. In a state the size of Connecticut, local economic development successes have positive regional benefit. What personal characteristic has contributed to your profes- sional success? Engaging. e best opportunities for success are not realized if you're not in the conversation. We start the conversation. What advice would you give to up- and-coming professionals? Know your product, Know your cus- tomers' products and business. Position yourself to learn. Let's get down: I enjoy the transition from the intensity of business development to the sanctity of rolling around on the floor with my grandkids. Makes it all worthwhile. Philadelphia? Since being tapped for Tweed last fall, Scanlon is the man on a mission to make that happen. Aso represents Guilford (and a slice of Branford) in the state House of Representatives (D-98). Describe your role in your organization and its impact it has on the greater New Haven economy: Every day I hear how important a vibrant airport is to growing the greater New Haven economy, and it's my job to bring more flights and destinations to Tweed-New Haven so the airport can help the region reach its full potential. What personal characteristic would you say has most contributed to your professional success — and how? No one gets anything done alone or without doing a lot of listening, and I try always to keep those important ideas in mind each and every day. What advice would you give to up-and-coming business professionals? Be honest with people, and never be afraid to tell someone you don't know the answer to a question — but that you'll find out.
