Southern Maine ZIP codes dominate listings of most expensive homes B y W i l l i a m H a l l Although perhaps not a surprise, nine of the 10 ZIP codes for Maine's most expensive homes are in just two coun- ties: Cumberland and York. Topping the list, compiled this month by national real estate data provider Property Shark, is 04110, the ZIP code for Cumberland Foreside, where the median residential sale price during 2019 was $647,000. No. 2 was 03907, the ZIP for the York County town of Ogunquit, whose median price was $630,000. Falmouth, whose ZIP code is 04105 and part of which abuts Cumberland Foreside, was No. 3, at $512,000. Mount Desert, in Hancock County, was the only community outside of south- ern Maine with a ZIP code that made the top 10. It ranked No. 8, with a median home price of $460,000. As high as those prices were, none of them cracked the 52 most expensive ZIP codes in New England. Across the region, the ZIP code of 02199, in Boston's Back Bay, was the most expensive, with a median of $3,669,000. That price also ranked the area sixth-most expensive among all U.S. ZIP codes. Massachusetts claimed 40 of the most expensive ZIP codes in New England, while Fairfield County in Connecticut accounted for nine. A single ZIP code in Rhode Island was on the regional list, and New Hampshire ZIP codes in Rye Beach (03871, $1.9 million) and New Castle (03854, $1.2 million) also made the roster. The Rye Beach ZIP code ranked No. 2 in New England, after Back Bay. Like Maine, Vermont did not have any ZIP codes in the top 52.
