Bryer has eight years of experience with audit and internal controls which is a skill set complimentary to the role of the committee. Maine Real Estate & Development Association selected Tiffany Dembowski to its board. Dembowski, who will also participate as co-chair of the associa- tions' public policy committee, is state counsel at Chicago, Commonwealth & Fidelity Title Insurance Cos. in Portland. New Hope for Women, a Rockland nonprofit, added Shelley Megquier and Sarah Robbins to its board. Megquier is a senior policy advisor at Population Reference Bureau, a Washington D.C. based non-governmental orga- nization, while Robbins is a business support analyst for Milton CAT. Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, said shareholder Jim Pross was elected to the Androscoggin Land Trust's board of directors. e trust is a private, nonprofit membership orga- nization dedicated to protecting natural areas, landscapes and outdoor experi- ences in the Androscoggin River water- shed through land conservation and stewardship. Pross' practice areas include real estate, landlord/tenant, municipal and government law, social security dis- ability and employment law. The MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor added Janis Coates to its board of trustees. Coates is executive director of Island Readers & Writers in Southwest Harbor. Central Maine Growth Council and KV Connect presented its annual "Emerging Leader" award to Molly Woodward, direc- tor of business development at New Dimensions Federal Credit Union and president of KV Connect, the young professionals' group of mid-Maine. Coastal Mountains Land Trust in Camden recognized its annual award winners. Maine Water Co. received the "Chatfield Land Protection Award," Roger Rittmaster was presented with the "Connecting Community & Nature Award" and Janet Williams and Brianna Quinn won the "Zwartjes Volunteer Award." Shana Youngdahl, assistant professor of English at University of Maine at Farmington, had her first young adult novel, "As Many Nows As I Can Get" recognized by the New York Public Library as a "Best Book of 2019 for Teens." e book was also selected by Kirkus as a starred review, awarded to books of exceptional merit and chosen by both Kirkus and Seventeen magazine as one of the "Best YA Books of 2019." "e PR Maven" podcast by Nancy Marshall Communications was listed among Feedspot's top 10 personal branding podcasts to follow. e rankings were based on episode con- sistency, social media metrics, podcast quality, domain authority, age of the podcast and how much traffic the podcast receives. United Midcoast Charities in Camden said it was designated as a "2019 Top- Rated Nonprofit" by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits. is is the third consecutive year in which the nonprofit received the honor and it is one of only eight nonprofits in Maine to be recognized in 2019. e Council of Scientific Society Presidents named U.S. Sen.
