Byrne, a longtime Connecticut resident, has extensive experience in developing education, housing, economic development and anti- poverty policies and programs. She's held various governmental leadership positions, including director of strategic initiatives at the state Department of Education. Jason E. Rusche was hired as an associate at Hartford law firm Goldberg Segalla, in the firm's global insurance services and general liability practice groups. Rusche most recently worked for XL Specialty Insurance Co. in Hartford. At Goldberg Segalla, he will focus on defending general liability claims and matters involving specialty environmental policies. Peter Crowe has joined Avon diversified financial services firm Robert Hensley & Associates LLC as director of retirement-plan services. Crowe has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including more than 25 years focused exclusively on the retirement plan market. At Robert Hensley & Associates he will help design, create and manage retirement plans. Phil Gagnon was elected secretary- treasurer of the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Gagnon works as principal in the Hartford office of Colliers International, a global commercial real estate services organization. As SIOR's treasurer, his duties will include managing chapter budgets, timely reporting to the executive team and chapter membership, taking an integral part in member benefit delivery and creating systems to meet chapter goals. Raymond Bovich was named board chair of The Connection Inc., a Middletown community- development nonprofit. Bovich, a senior partner and director of investment for Aegis Wealth Partners, joined The Connection's board in 2016. Barry Sussman was hired as consulting director in the litigation and valuation practice of West Hartford accounting and consulting firm blumshapiro. Sussman specializes in the analysis of economic damages in commercial and intellectual property litigation, and has over 25 years of experience assisting companies and attorneys in the dispute-resolution process The Hartford has appointed Jonathan Bennett to lead the insurance company's group-benefits segment. Bennett most recently served as the chief financial officer and head of strategy for The Hartford's property and casualty insurance segments. He will report to company chairman and CEO Christopher Swift. Patrick Sennott has joined Westbrook-based Lyman Real Estate Brokerage & Development as an associate. Sennott is a recent graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he majored in real estate and urban economics and was a member of the Real Estate Society.
