The city agreed to sell Polamer for $1.1 million the remaining 27.3- acre tract of city-owned land in The Pinnacle Business Park on Alton Brooks Way, where the company is currently based. The decision comes more than a month after Polamer announced plans to leverage a new $80-million contract with Rolls Royce to add three buildings spanning over 600,000 square feet. The new space, to be built over the next seven years, will add about 600 new employees to Polamer's current workforce of more than 200. Polamer makes engine and airframe components for defense and commercial aviation customers. Northwest Community Bank eyes Simsbury expansion A Winsted-based community lender is eyeing its first new branch in over a decade. Northwest Community Bank, a mutually owned savings bank with $416.2 million in assets, has asked for regulatory permission to establish a full-service branch at 741 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury. It would be Northwest's third Hartford County full-service branch and its sixth overall. The bank has locations in Avon, Granby, New Hartford and Torrington. Condominium overlooking Farmington Country Club completed Construction of a luxury 12-unit condominium overlooking Farmington Country Club has been completed. Torrington builder PAC Group LLC recently completed building shells of the two- and three-bedroom units, and is waiting for the units to sell before fully customizing them for occupants, according to Realtor Paula Fahy Ostop of Marshall + Ostop Associates. PAC's investment for the 18-month construction project was not disclosed. Ostop said the development, at 788 Farmington Ave., is garnering significant buyer interest and will likely be fully sold by next year. Two units have been sold so far. Billed as The Pennington, the complex includes a dozen two- and three- bedroom condos ranging between 1,635 to 1,945 square feet. Listing prices range from $479,000 to $525,000. Shelbourne scores extension on Talcott Plaza redevelopment plan The city of Hartford is giving one of downtown's most prominent landlords six additional months to decide whether it wants to salvage the vacant One Talcott Plaza parking garage. New York's Shelbourne Global LLC once planned to raze the garage near Main Street by year-end as part of a tax-break deal it inked with the city. But Shelbourne now says there may be potential to repair and reopen the garage, following findings from a recent engineering study performed on the site. Shelbourne received near unanimous approval from the city council to extend the deadline to determine the fate of the garage until June 30. Bloomfield aeroparts manufacturer to expand facilities, workforce Bloomfield aeroparts maker Birken Manufacturing Co. plans to build an additional facility near its current Old Windsor Road headquarters and hire up to 15 new employees to keep up with customer demand. Bloomfield's Town Planning and Zoning Commission approved Birken's plan to add a new 18,000-square-foot building on its 3 Old Windsor Road lot. Birken General Manager Gary Connolly said he expects the building will cost about $2 million and break ground next spring with a completion date about a year from now. It will be built near Birken's current 70,000-square-foot facility, Connolly said, and likely be connected by a vestibule.
