Construction will begin this month. Portsmouth, N.H.-based DeStefano & Associates provides planning, design and construction services for new, expansion and renovation projects in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Elsewhere, DeStefano is busy on the construction of a three-story mixed-use project on Plaza Drive in Scarborough. e architect is Gawron Turgeon Architects, which is based around the corner, on Black Point Road in Scarborough. Speaking of Gawron Turgeon, it designed a 2,700-square-foot branch for Camden National Bank, at 435 Main St. in Damariscotta; a fitness center at OceanView at Falmouth; and, with Milwaukee-based Plunkett Raysich Architects, the small-house style memory care center for Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta. e $91 million, 179,000-square-foot Veterans' Home project is being co-managed by Pittsfield- based Cianbro and VJS Construction Services of Pewaukee, Wisc. Cianbro, in turn, is also the project manager for the planned Canopy Portland Waterfront Hotel, which is being developed at the corner of Center and Commercial streets in Portland. e developer is Fathom Cos., led by developer Jim Brady. Workers from H.B. Fleming Inc. of South Portland are busy with the site work. Avesta Housing of Portland held the grand opening of Southgate Farm, an afford- able housing redevelopment in Scarborough, at 577 U.S. Route 1. Built in 1805 by Robert Southgate, the farmhouse has been upgraded and now has an additional wing. In all, there are 38 units. e architect was Goduti-omas Architects and builder was Benchmark Construction. Funding for the $8 million project came from MaineHousing, Boston Capital, Bangor Savings Bank, Community Housing Capital, NeighborWorks America, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston and Scarborough Housing Alliance. Great Falls Construction is finishing up a branch office for Infinity Federal Credit Union on Plaza Drive in Scarborough. e office should be open by the holidays.
