Supporting schools Another major activity for the foundation is providing grants, supported by donations from local businesses, for educational activities schools may not have the budgets for. Michael Rubin, principal of Uxbridge High School, said a counselor at the school won one of the grants to support a walking path on school grounds to help students learn about health and wellness. Rubin said BVEF has helped build the school's connections with local businesses. at's assisted in developing its engineering curriculum and built connections leading to field trips and civic projects. In past years, funding from the foundation has supported initiatives including a field trip to Boston for government students and a professional development program in which teachers visited sites around the valley related to the Industrial Revolution. For the past couple of years, Uxbridge High School has played host to the foundation's job fair, which brings students from across the region together with employers. e businesses present 10- to 15-minute chats, explaining the range of jobs in different fields.
