Eastern League President Joe McEacharn said the league selected Hartford due to "the complete community engagement" the team has achieved in its first four years in operation as Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. UTC CFO Johri to retire United Technologies Corp. announced the pending retirement of its Chief Financial Officer Akhil Johri. UTC CEO and Chairman Greg Hayes said Johri, who is well-known in the Greater Hartford business community, will retire Nov. 1, after more than 30 years with the company. Hartford's Express Kitchens eyes $5M+ expansion Express Kitchens, a kitchen cabinet and countertop retailer based in the North End of Hartford, is planning to invest more than $5 million to open eight new showrooms in Greater Boston. The company, headquartered in a 130,000-square-foot warehouse on Weston Street, is also considering a Hartford expansion. The company is working with city economic- development officials to identify another vacant building with a half-million square feet for future development. Cigna expanding Bloomfield training facility As Cigna Corp. preps for a major $90-million renovation of its Bloomfield campus, it's adding yet another construction project to the mix. The health insurer is planning to double the size of its training and learning center at 1350 Boulevard Rd., a little-known facility — known as "Cigna University" — that is taking on added importance following the company's $67-billion purchase last year of pharmacy-benefits manager Express Scripts. Cigna is asking the town permission to add a 5,310-square- foot addition to the 5,900-square-foot building. Cigna's combination with Express Scripts doubled the size of the company and is driving the need for more training space, according to Cigna spokesman Mark Slitt.
