JA's programs are delivered by volunteers from business and the community who work side by side with classroom teachers to prepare and inspire students for future success. GOALS • Expand the number of students served to 50,000 by 2020. • Increase financial resources and number of classroom volunteers. • Expand programs that provide even more impact for young people, including JA Company Program, where students create an actual company. • Increase awareness of JA's mission and success in preparing young people for the future. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Junior Achievement holds many special events during the course of the year. There are sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for all. Please contact Jacqueline Lombardi, Special Events and Marketing Manager, for more information, jlombardi@jaconn.org. Here is a summary of our events: JA Classic Golf Tournament: This event, held at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield on June 1, 2020, has been attracting top business leaders for 21 years. Thanks to the event's high-end gift package, great customer service and opportunities for customer entertainment, it has earned a reputation as one of the best charity golf tournaments in New England. Business Hall of Fame: This dinner honors men and women whose careers in business and dedication to improving the local community make them an inspiration and role model for young people. There are separate Business Halls of Fame in both Hartford, on April 8, 2020 and New Haven, on March 5, 2020. Bowl-A-Thons: This is a perfect teambuilding opportunity for colleagues, friends and family to come out and enjoy an afternoon or evening of fun. The night includes networking, bowling, food and drinks, and prizes for top fundraising and scoring participants. Through soliciting funds and pledges, participants raise money to help Junior Achievement. JA hosts several events throughout the year in the Hartford and New Haven areas, including three "networking" events. Partners in Achievement Breakfasts: These breakfasts, one in New Haven, November 20, 2019 and one in Hartford, May 15, 2020, provide an opportunity to learn about the impact JA is having in the local community. Speakers include students, educators, volunteers and donors. The breakfast is free, and those who attend are asked to consider donating to the organization. Office Warriors: This event is an opportunity for some of our biggest corporate supporters to come out and compete against one another in a series of dynamic and wacky office- themed games. Varying levels of sponsorship are available to participate or support the event. Occurring as a kick off to summer, it will be held at the end of June 25, 2020. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES • Sponsor a "JA in a Day" program, in which all students at a local elementary and middle school receive JA programming. Cost $10,000 to $25,000, depending on the school size. • Sponsor an entire grade level of JA programs (roughly five classrooms) Cost: $5,000. • Sponsor one JA classroom program. Cost: $1,000. • Sponsor one JA student. Cost: $50 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Junior Achievement relies on volunteers from businesses and the community to provide its programs to students. Working side by side with classroom teachers, JA volunteers lead students through a series of fun and engaging activities primarily during the school day. JA has designed its programs with an understanding that most individuals face time constraints. Thus, elementary school programs last only five class periods, middle school programs last only six class periods and most high school programs only last seven class periods. All volunteers receive training and detailed guidebooks that provide class scripts, lesson plans and activities designed to make the classroom experience gratifying and successful. Volunteers say they get a deep sense of satisfaction from making a difference in students' lives. Volunteers can participate as a group from a company as a team building exercise or as individuals.
