Mystic Aquarium introduces approximately 800,000 guests annually to thousands of animals through structured interpretations, specially-curated exhibits and hands-on interactions. As a leading research organization, the Aquarium employs a full staff of scientists engaged in projects focused on the conservation and sustainability of our ocean planet. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Each of the following hosted by and in support of Mystic Aquarium is open to the general public; each requires designated admission/registration fee to participate; most have additional fundraising component. All events have sponsorship opportunities for businesses. • February, Seal Splash — Arctic winter plunge raising awareness and funds for Animal Rescue Program. • June, Golf Classic — Elite golf event featuring 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch, cocktail reception, dinner and exclusive giveaways, all in support of mission programs. • July, Seals on the Rocks — Summer celebration in support of Animal Rescue Program, featuring local craft beer and wine tastings, light refreshments, live music, silent auction and a peek inside the Animal Rescue Clinic. • September, Ocean Commotion Gala — Black-tie gala featuring live music, gourmet dinner, specialty cocktails, exclusive auction and more, all in support of mission. • October, Run/Walk for the Penguins — Family-friendly 5k run or 2 mile walk plus fundraising competition and free general admission to the Aquarium that day for registered runners/walkers, all in support of conservation efforts to help save the endangered African penguin. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteer options include episodic volunteerism for special events, husbandry programs supporting animal care efforts and non-husbandry programs supporting guest service and office operations. Additionally, the Ocean Ambassador program invites community members to participate in conservation practices including, but not limited to, area cleanup efforts, habitat restoration, wildlife studies and more.
