www.HartfordBusiness.com • November 4, 2019 • GIVING GUIDE • Hartford Business Journal 9 S ince 1959, the Community Child Guidance Clinic has been dedicated to helping underserved children and families of Connecticut live fuller, richer lives. Working with more than 1,000 families each year, CCGC offers a variety of mental health services including a private special education school for students in grades Pre-K through 8, an outpatient mental health clinic, intensive outpatient services for children with more acute needs, and in-home mental health services. GOALS • Begin to develop our next 3-year strategic plan, which will guide our vision and goals for the agency as a whole. This will expand and deepen our impact in the community. • Continue to increase our brand awareness and help the community understand how we can help children and families. • Explore additional funding opportunities in the hopes of acquiring indoor space for our clients and students to participate in physical activity and nontraditional therapeutic interventions — all of which have been proven to improve mental health symptoms and academic outcomes for students. • Expand both our special education and evidence- based practice offerings, including telehealth, for the students and clients we serve. • Provide technology updates to allow for easier access to information that is vital to our workflow, as well as introduce tech-friendly mental health interventions for clients and staff. • Improve our culinary offerings to our special education students, with the possibility of developing a community garden to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as collaborate with local culinary programs. • Continue to diversify our workforce in all areas to improve our recruitment and retention practices. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/ OPPORTUNITIES • Dreams and Discovery Night Gala: Held in the spring, this special evening of entertainment includes a variety of foods, dancing, special guests, and live and silent auctions. • Fall Fest: A free community festival in September offering an afternoon of family entertainment and fun, while also providing information about valuable support resources that are available for families in need. • Give Back Events: Businesses can sponsor internal events, which we help promote, where a portion of the proceeds are donated to CCGC. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES • Learn about our current campaigns and make a donation directly at ccgcinc.org/donate • Host a fundraiser or become a sponsor at one of our annual events • Join CCGC's legacy by becoming a member of our planned giving program • Donate clothing, toys and food throughout the year so that we can give it directly to our families who desperately need help • Connect with us on social media at facebook.com/ccgcinc to stay up-to-date on our mission and goals VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES • Help with one of our special events: From ongoing planning to helping on the day of the event, volunteers are vital to the success of these events in raising awareness and funds for children's mental health. • Sponsor a collection drive or fundraiser: Volunteers have organized drives to collect vital items for families, including monetary donations, clothes, school supplies, toys, gift cards, and food.
