Cantz, Jr. Richard J. Cantz, Jr. PA N E L I S T 1. Define and practice innovation: Build an innovation team, and ultimately a culture focused on new ideas and sharing. Growth will occur when innovation is built on core competencies. 2. Celebrate success and failure: An organization is much wiser when teams learn from failure and leverage success — no need to shy away from it. 3. See and know your employees: Be visible, go to 30 locations in 30 days, have fun and build trust. 4. Build a strategy team: Engage your leadership team with other identified employees more deeply and in intentional ways. It will lead to better decision-making and thoughtful strategic development. 5. Listen: Ask three consistent questions, and take feedback that is both good and bad very seriously. 6. Build your team and support them: Make their jobs as easy as possible so they can succeed and enjoy success. 7. Change: Both good change (intentional) and bad change (curve balls) create stress. Understand how change impacts teams, and ultimately culture, when it is not managed well. 8. Over communicate: Communicate in a simple, clear manner and in various ways. Everyone learns differently, and transparency builds trust. 9. Use the right amount of data: Know what data matters most and track it. Don't over-measure, as it can lead to non-productive paralysis and "data noise". 10. Have fun! We all (likely) spend more time with our col- leagues than with our friends and families. So, enjoy your time!
