More than 6,000 school supplies were collected in the local branches to be distributed to area elementary schools. Basket Bash A ceremonial groundbreaking was held for Market Basket at Maynard Crossing. The store will anchor the 730,000-square-foot mixed-use development on Parker Street; it's expected to open next summer with 250 new hires. The property is part of the former Digital Equipment Corporation site. Speakers included Market Basket President and CEO Arthur T. Demoulas; State Rep. Kate Hogan; Chris DiSilva, chairman, Maynard Board of Selectmen; and Sarah Cressy, president and CEO, Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce. Home Run Abby's House celebrated the completion of its $16.2-million-dollar renova- tion at 52 High St. in Worcester. The nonprofit serves homeless, battered and low-income women.
