United Way, Travelers make literacy kits for children
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut teamed up with 240 Travelers interns to
make 330 literacy kits to help build children's home libraries to ensure kids are reading on grade
level by the time they reach fourth grade. The books and interactive reading props were enjoyed
by children at Hartford's Camp Courant, a United Way partner.
American Eagle Financial Credit Union
supports United Way
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut
received $3,006 from American Eagle Financial Credit
Union employees through payroll deductions during the
second quarter of 2019. The funds will support local
children and families in the areas of youth success,
economic mobility, access to health and basic needs.

Business leaders learn about CT offshore wind opportunities
Industry leaders recently gathered at the offices of McCarter & English LLP in Hartford to learn
about recent developments moving Connecticut toward becoming a major hub for offshore
wind generation.
McCarter Renewable Energy Partner Kimberly Frank moderated the panel discussion, which
featured Liz Burdock, CEO and president of Business Network for Offshore Wind; David Kooris,
deputy commissioner, Department of Economic and Community Development; and Matthew
Morrissey, head of New England markets, Orsted U.S. Offshore Wind.
