The outer shell and thermal liner scrap material from our turnout gear production line is sent to a company that repurposes the fiber. Clean paper refuse, plastics, aluminum cans, and batteries are segregated and forwarded to the local recycling center. Our Dumpster waste, though drastically decreased through recycling efforts, goes to an incinerator center to produce electricity. We make every effort to partner with suppliers to also work toward our goal of zero impact for a better environment. We have upgraded our interior lighting system for low-use fluorescent bulbs, use LED lighting outside, use no mercury lighting, and have installed motion sensor switches for individual offices to shut down when there is no activity. Additionally, all task lighting on our sewing machines now use 7-watt fluorescent bulbs rather than 50-watt incandescent bulbs. And the motors on most of our sewing machines have been changed to DC so that they're on only when operators push on the treadles and not continuously. Other equipment changes that have resulted in power savings include upgrading to air compressors that use less energy and using economizers on our rooftop air conditioning units. Our mission is that men and women may work in safety and that they, their families and their communities may live in health throughout the world. Our Associates not only make a difference but are able to build a meaningful career that they're passionate about and can accomplish great things because they're given the tools and opportunities to succeed. When I first started in HR, I did not have the educational knowledge of the laws required for my job, and I struggled to make sense of them.
