SERVICE LOCATION MSSPA is a statewide organization providing shelter services to abused or neglected Maine horses who have been removed from their owners by law enforcement. Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals 2020 GOALS In 2020 MSSPA will continue to move forward its vision of a world without equine abuse or neglect. In the upcoming year, the Society will continue raising its visibility with community leaders at the local, state, and national level to discuss relevant topics, such as animal welfare public policy, enforcement of existing laws, and equitable outcomes for all stakeholders, including the animals. 2020 will be a year when individuals and groups will be invited to partner with the Society and increase overall support for Maine's abused horses. Peer-to-peer, and all forms of giving, will be cultivated to help broaden the base and strengthen the foundation of the organizational mission. In addition, humane education programming offered through field trips, kids' camps, and birthday parties will help expand the Society's family of donors. e growth of the volunteer program continues to expand the organization's footprint and impact. Use of the indoor training arena, completed in 2019, will facilitate an increased number of rehabilitated horses being adopted into families throughout the country. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES f Help MSSPA raise the funds needed to feed the horses for the coming year by making a contribution to its annual Buy-A-Bale campaign. f Held in the fall, Ride to Rescue will be a peer-to-peer fundraiser that celebrates the community's commitment to the horses cared for by the Society. Join the fundraising campaign individually or create your own gallop gang. f Come to a Take It Away Day. Get great stuff, help clean out MSSPA's storage areas, and make a donation – everyone goes home happier! f Create a Facebook fundraiser for your birthday, or any other occasion. Share it with your friends and encourage them to help you raise money for the rescued horses. f Host a donation drive with your company, neighborhood, school, church, or civic group. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES f Make a one-time gift over the phone, online at msspa.org/give or in person. MSSPA is open to the public everyday, 1 pm to 4pm. f Set up weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring gifts. f Make a gift of equities, real estate, life insurance, retirement funds, charitable annuity, or other planned giving. f Support a Stall and help provide one horse with a year of feed, medical attention, and dental and hoof care. ere are also many other sponsorship opportunities for individuals, groups, and corporations, including sponsoring individual horses. f In-kind donations of horse blankets, tack, feed, and items from our Amazon wish list are always appreciated. 100% of individual donations directly supports the horses. MSSPA does not receive any federal, state, or local funding. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteers support our life-saving work in the barns, in the office, and at special events. Individual and group volunteering opportunities are available. In addition to the many daily barn chores that our volunteers support, we have a need for volunteers with skills as varied as grounds maintenance, carpentry, and database management. Love horses and people? Become a volunteer tour guide or sign up for the 'party posse' to get involved in MSSPA's successful birthday party program. Your organization can also get involved by bringing a group to volunteer at the shelter or by hosting a fundraising drive.
