SERVICE LOCATIONS Headquartered in Camden, Maine, HIOBS serves close to 2,500 students per year at wilderness basecamps in St. George and Newry, Maine, the Florida Keys, and throughout the Americas. Our students span all age ranges from teens to adults, to Veterans and corporate leaders, and come from all over the globe. Hurricane Island Outward Bound School 2020 GOALS f Increase the number of Vets served on fully-funded Veterans expeditions supporting military members who are transitioning from active duty back to civilian life. In 2018, we put nearly 70 vets on course and aim to serve 145 by 2020. 100% of Veterans who have completed our course say they would recommend Outward Bound to a friend. f Our Scholarship Program is guided by a single principle: every person, regardless of means, should have the opportunity to discover more about themselves, through the adventure and challenge of an Outward Bound course. In 2018, the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School distributed more than $600,000 in scholarship support. We are hoping to increase this to $750,000 by 2020! f Grow the number of Maine businesses committed to our experiential team- building programs that promote lasting change for organizations. f Our most unique and impactful classroom is the wilderness. We are com- mitted to modernizing and upgrading our fleet and facilities to better serve our participants in an environmentally conscious way. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES f Participate in an invitational expedition designed for adults interested in supporting HIOBS. is is an abridged version of a classic expedition, show- casing our educational philosophy and providing firsthand knowledge of the transformational power of Outward Bound. f Attend a fundraising event, announced periodically throughout the year, held in Maine and beyond. f Attend our end-of-summer homecoming celebration and Annual General Meeting at Wheeler Bay basecamp, scheduled on the last Saturday of August. You'll reconnect with alumni and instructors, get the latest updates on HIOBS, and enjoy lobster, dancing, and fireworks while connecting with Outward Bound.
