Even now, with a defined role, her hands are in several baskets at once. As director of marketing and community services, she manages the financial institution's marketing program while being the only certified financial literacy coordinator. She runs an in-school branch out of Bay Path High School in Charlton where she teaches about financial responsibility. She was a developer of the Reality Fairs at the school, which aim to teach students real-world financial skills. She's one of Central Massachusetts' only certified bilingual financial literacy trainers and spends countless hours through the nonprofit Catholic Charities working with underserved community members to teach them about saving, balancing a checkbook, credit and budgeting, now reaching more than 500 people. She serves on the board for the Tri-Community YMCA in Southbridge and on the budget committee of the United Way of Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton. – Profile by Zachary Comeau Which four people would you like to travel with for a year? My daughter, Isabella, because adventures are better with her at my side; she's my ride or die. Wonder Woman because I often have to get into my Wonder Woman mindset to take on anything that comes my way. My soul mate, whoever that may be, because life is meant to be shared. Channing Tatum because eye candy on this trip is a must. Don't judge. What would you say to a new SCU intern? You don't have to be crazy to work here, we'll train you. (insert laughing emoji) Hoffey is already a noted lawyer, having received the Worcester County Bar Association's President's Award in 2010 and been named an up-and-coming lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2013. He was the chairman of the Young Lawyer's Division of the Massachusetts Bar Association in 2012 and 2013. But Hoffey's still on the move, expecting to finish his MBA this year. Hoffey works with a management team to lead an office of 23 lawyers and staff to deliver cost savings for MAPFRE, and has served as its brand ambassador. Hoffey is an ambitious volunteer, devoting his time through MAPFRE in southern Worcester County with children's events at local libraries and schools, as well as at his daughter's elementary school by helping students select books at the book fair and pitching in on kindergarten center activities. Even before his 5-year-old daughter was born, Hoffey served as referee and umpire for local sports games. Today, he helped organize the American Heart Association Heart Walk and the Cradles to Crayons fundraiser, and he regularly donates blood to the American Red Cross. – Profile by Grant Welker What movie character is most like you? Sebastian from "The Little Mermaid" is strong and determined but demonstrates a great ability for self contemplation, compassion and understanding. Why do you live in Central Mass.? I love being two hours from the ocean and two hours from the mountains. Where do you go from here? Continue to learn, grow, and strive to be a better father, husband, co-worker, and leader. The rest will take care of itself. Thomas M.
