Terms of the Emburse deal were not disclosed. Emburse has processed hundreds of millions of dollars of corporate expenditures over tens of thousands of credit cards, while doubling its revenue every year. Portland official leaves for MIT Jeff Levine, Portland director of planning and urban development, left his post to teach at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and start a consulting practice. In an email to Mainebiz confirming the news, Levine said he'll join MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning. His last day with the city was to be Aug. 2. At MIT, "I will be teaching, conducting research and advising master's level students in the program," he said. "I am also starting a consulting practice working with developers and cities to help find positive solutions for communities in Maine and beyond." e consultancy, Levine Planning Strategies LLC, will offer services like representing developers for local entitlements, municipal staff support and inno- vative housing policy and program development. During the past seven years in Portland, Levine has headed a department of 25 professionals in land use planning, community development, housing, preserva- tion, inspections and other planning activities.
