LaCrosse most recently served as vice president and chief financial officer of Industrial Physics. At blumshapiro, he will lead efforts to work with clients on a variety of operational efficiency and process- improvement projects. Jack Smith has joined Lyman Real Estate, a Westbrook commercial real estate firm, as a Realtor. Smith is the past president and CEO of J.E. Smith & Co. Inc., which operated for many years in the wholesale and retail lumber and building materials industry in the greater Waterbury and Southington areas. He has recently been active in the shoreline residential market and is transitioning to the commercial and development industry sector. Melanie S. Tavares has been hired to serve as the new director of the nonprofit support program at The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Tavares has worked for several state and national organizations, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Corporation for National and Community Service. At the Hartford Foundation she will play a significant role in developing a strategic plan focused on creating greater racial, geographic and economic inclusion in Greater Hartford. John J. Patrick Jr. has been appointed as vice chair to the New England advisory board of NBT Bank, an independent, community bank based in Norwich, N.Y. Patrick has more than 30 years of experience in the financial-services industry, having served as chairman, president and CEO of Farmington Bank from 2011 to 2018. Kathryn Redican has been promoted to vice president of operations at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England, New York and Westchester Properties. Redican most recently served as vice president of marketing and business development, where she managed all marketing and communications for the Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island offices. In her new role she will be charged with establishing business- development partnerships, increasing each department's overall effectiveness and streamlining efforts across teams. Matthew Fitzsimmons has joined Hartford law firm Shipman & Goodwin LLP as a partner in the firm's state attorneys general and data privacy protection practice groups. Fitzsimmons was most recently Cigna Corp.'s U.S. privacy officer and lead cybersecurity counsel. Prior to that, he was an assistant attorney general at the Connecticut Attorney General's office, where he worked for seven years. John Donovan is now the general manager of the East Hartford and Hanover, Mass., locations of Tecta America New England, a general contractor. Donovan has been the GM of Tecta America New England's Hanover branch since 2017. He began as a production foreman for Delta Roofing, then became general superintendent, leading to his current position. Kelly Papa was hired to the newly created position of vice president — strategy and community life at Duncaster, a retirement community provider. Papa was most recently the corporate director of learning at Masonicare in Wallingford. At Duncaster she will be responsible for implementing best practices in life enrichment and wellness services across all of Duncaster's locations. Carrie Balicki has joined OneDigital Health and Benefits, a Farmington employee-benefits firm, as vice president of client services. Before joining OneDigital, Balicki was vice president of workforce health operations for Ovation Benefits, prior to it being acquired by OneDigital Health and Benefits in 2013.
