CARLA CARTEN of Shrewsbury, the assistant vice chancellor of diversity and inclusion for UMass Medical School, has been appointed a new board member of the Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts, which has offices in Worcester. Carten has a doctorate in organizational behavior, a master's degree in organizational development, and has more than 20 years of experience in the field. She's joined on the board by three students who were newly appointed: EVELYN BAGLEY, a 16-year-old sophomore at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend; SOPHIE THOMPSON of Harvard, a 15-year-old at the Bromfield School in Harvard; and MARGUERITE KOCSMIERSKY of Springfield, an eighth grader at the Zanetti Montessori School in Springfield. UMass Memo- rial Health Care of Worcester has three new doctors on staff. Dr. DANILO FUNA, an internal medicine physi- cian at Leominster Internal Medicine, earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines and completed his resi- dency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worces- ter. Dr. ABDULRAOUF GHANDOUR, a family medicine physician at Sutton Internal Medicine, earned his medical degree from the Beirut Arab University in Lebanon. He completed a family medicine residency program and a geriatric medicine fellowship program at University Hospital – University of Missouri Health Care, and a family medi- cine residency at the American University of Beirut. Dr. KHURSHID A. KHURSHID, a psychiatrist at Community Neuroscience Services in Westborough, earned his medi- cal degree from the University of Kashmir in India. He completed a psychiatry residency program at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and a combined internal medi- cine and psychiatry residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in sleep medicine and circadian rhythms at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. MARK DICHTER has been named medical director for utilization management and clinical informatics for Worcester insurer Fallon Health to provide clinical leadership and support to utilization management, medical policy and other medical management functions. Dichter was most recently medical director for health information systems for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He has a bachelor's degree from Boston University, a medical degree from SUNY- Downstate Medical Center in New York, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical informatics at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. SAMUEL NORDBERG has joined Reli- ant Medical Group in Worcester as chief of its department of behavioral health, where he focuses on implementing an embed- ded primary care and behavioral health model and developing focused specialty behavioral health services. Nordberg joins Relianit from Atrius Health in Boston, where he was medical direc- tor for informatics and innovations. He earned his doctor- ate from Penn State University, completed his internship at Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implemen- tation Research at the Boston VA Medical Center. JACK BAILEY is the new senior vice president for clinical services at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was most recently the executive director of internal medicine for Atrius Health in Boston, where he provided overall strategy and operations management for the orga- nization's largest line of business. Bailey also oversaw the department of medicine at Baystate Health in Springfield and spent nine years with Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. The board of The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, based in Worces- ter, elected three new members to serve three-year terms: THOMAS GREGORY, the Spencer town administrator; JULIE MEEHAN, the executive director of the Gardner Community Action Committee; and JENNIFER WARD, the director of the Milford Youth Center.
