Gideon is only the second lawyer in Maine history to be invited to join this group. Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, announced it was rated as a "Leading Firm" in seven main categories and five subcategories as evaluated by London-based Chambers & Partners, a legal research and publishing firms. In addition, the firm said 28 of its Maine-based lawyers were acknowl- edged as "Leading Lawyers." Shipbuilders Council of America, a national trade association, named U.S. Sen. Susan Collins as a 2019 recipient of its "Maritime Leadership Award." NorthStar, the ambulance service of Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, named Carol Tibbetts its "EMT of the Year." In addition, rec- ognition for "Beyond the Call" awards went to Wade Browne, Cassandra Clark, Steve Smith, Rod Koehn, Justin Hurlburt and Jared Stinson. Clark, a paramedic and supervisor in Farmington, was also named the "Maine EMS Merit Award" winner by Maine EMS. Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, said attorney Jordan Payne Hay spoke at the Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce's June breakfast meeting. Hay presented the most up-to-date information about minimum wage requirements, over- time rules and different pay structures and employee classification. Maine Academy of Family Physicians named Julia McDonald "Maine's 2019 Family Physician of the Year" award winner. McDonald is a faculty mem- ber at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency who sees patients at the Family Medicine Institute.
