They inspire. They get the best out of their employees. They help grow their organizations. They're innovators. As part of this year's Lifetime Achievement Awards, Hartford Business Journal is honoring a group of business and nonprofit executives who have left last- ing impressions, not only on their respective orga- nizations, but on the broader busi- ness community. They include Martin J. Geitz, president and CEO of Simsbury Bank, who steered his com- munity lender away from many of the trouble's that hamstrung U.S. and global banks during the 2008 financial crisis. Beth Shluger is CEO and president of the Hartford Marathon Foundation, which puts on one of the most important one-day sporting events in Connecticut. JoAnn H. Price is a trailblazer in the invest- ment world having co-founded Fairview Capi- tal, which is now one of the country's largest minority-owned private equity investment management firms. Last but not least is Neal Keating, chairman, president and CEO of Bloomfield-based Kaman Corp., who has been an innovator in the aero- space industry. In our 10th installment of the Lifetime Achievement Awards our winners have demon- strated how hard work, dedication and com- mitment to excellence and the community can translate into professional and personal success. As you read their individual profiles join us in congratulating them for their many accom- plishments. We'll celebrate their success July 18, at a breakfast at the Bond Ballroom in Hartford. Also, it should be noted that this year's win- ners were largely chosen by HBJ's editorial team. While we did solicit nominations from our read- ers, our staff made their own picks, taking into consideration candidates who have made lasting impacts on their organization and the broader business community. And as we congratulate this year's Lifetime Achievement class, please remember that we'll be back next year looking for the next group of winners. We encourage all of our readers to nominate worthy candidates. Greg Bordonaro , Editor Contents 18 Martin J.
