Since the 1978 merger with St. Francis College that created the University of New England, UNE
COM has graduated over 3,300 doctors — providing holistic, patient-centered care across Maine,
New England, and the nation. Our connection with our home state is particularly strong: We are the
number one provider of physicians for every major hospital and health care network in Maine, with
61% of alumni practicing in primary care and 40% practicing in rural and underserved areas. UNE
COM graduates have an annual economic impact of more than $100 million dollars for the state.
Over the course of four decades, we have built a reputation for educational innovation, ground-
breaking research, and our commitment to frontline care. We are both proud and grateful that our
