2018 community service
award winner
United Way of Central and
Northeastern Connecticut celebrated
its 94th annual meeting where Karen
Perham-Lippman, of Vernon, was
named its 2018 Community Service
Award winner.
Perham-Lippman (shown far left in
photo) serves on the 2018 United
Way Community Campaign Cabinet
and is a member of United Way
Women United, which advocates for
family financial security.
United Bank Foundation
supports MakerspaceCT
The United Bank Foundation of Connecticut dedicated
$5,000 to McEIVR Inc., the nonprofit that is launching
MakerspaceCT in downtown Hartford. MakerspaceCT
is a community resource, open to the public, offering
classes for all types of equipment and tools needed to
make or manufacture prototypes, hobbyist or artistic

Distinction'
The American Heart Association
(AHA) recently presented its 2019
Woman of Distinction award to
Jill Hummel, president of Anthem
Blue Cross and Blue Shield in
Wallingford, at the Hartford Go Red
For Women luncheon. Hummel has
made a significant impact on the
health of women in Connecticut
as an AHA volunteer, executive
leader and top fundraiser over the
