Carole La Rose, the theater's production manager and events co- ordinator, says Lyric Hall has been working to promote the space as a venue for functions in recent years, in addition to the mostly theater, music and private events that are its bread and butter. To date these have included networking, happy hour meetups and speed dating-type business events among them. e appeal is in having some form of entertainment, with a bar being an additional lure. e space has also been well suited to holiday parties. "ere's definitely an aura that hangs over the place because of all the historical things we have in there," La Rose explains. It functions as an ideal environment for any well-thought- out get-together. Aer the city's public library outgrew the East Main Street structure, Meriden folks came to- gether around the turn of the (21st) century to reclaim the cherished property. Beyond its rich history, booking manager Carolyn Daniels says the Curtis Center's central location is what makes the venue an especially popular destination for business meetings and confer- ences.
