The Hartford's staffer recognized for mentoring local children To honor Connecticut mentors during January's National Mentoring Month, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy hosted a pancake breakfast at the Middletown Senior Center. At the event, Murphy presented a special commendation to Ana Rodriguez, a senior administrative assistant at The Hartford, who has mentored five different girls in the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters program. United Bank sponsors East of the River Chambers of Commerce Association benefit United Bank was the top sponsor of the East of the River Chambers of Commerce Association's "Warming Hands, Warming Hearts" benefit in January. This was ERCCA's fifth annual event that raises money and collects warm winter clothing for children in need in the region. United Bank's sponsorship included a $2,500 check donation to ERCCA. Of Note The National Organization of Italian American Women has selected Paula S. Gilberto, president and CEO of United Way of Central and Northeastern CT, as one of its 2019 Three Wise Women Honorees. Gilberto has been a United Way champion for over 20 years focusing on building partnerships for grade-level reading, student achievement, financial security and workforce development. University of Hartford supports Chrysalis Center's Freshplace food pantry The University of Hartford recently held a midnight breakfast where volunteers donated 460 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables and turkeys to Chrysalis Center's Freshplace food pantry. University of Hartford's donations will provide 383 meals for Chrysalis Center clients.
